Lavender Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy & Massage

What’s aromatherapy, and why do we use it in Massage Therapy? The aromatic compounds distilled from plants (aka essential oils) have been used throughout the centuries to treat stress, illness, and pain related issues.

Aromatherapy is the process of taking essential oils into the body via inhalation and skin absorption. Our sense of smell is connected to our limbic system, which controls our memory, emotions, and our conscious / unconscious functions.

Therapeutic Massage includes aromatherapy and begins with taking a few deep breaths while inhaling the scent of essential oils. The oils are applied along the spine which has a concentration of neurological and arterial points to allow for quick skin absorption.

Lavender, whose scent is known for its ability to induce relaxation, is an essential oil often used in aromatherapy. When its essential oil is incorporated in a massage, your mind strengthens the association of lavender’s relaxing scent with the tension relief of body work to allow your mind & body to relax even deeper.

At Royal Care Lifestyle, we have developed a selection of aromatherapy blends to help with muscle pain, stress relief, and boosting immunity. You can also choose a single scent, or come up with your own blend from the essential oils we keep on hand.

Aromatherapy is included with our Therapeutic Massage and Royal Rituals which combine massage with holistic body treatments.
